NEW YORK ASIAN ARTS FESTIVAL
Honoring Asian Roots and Inspiring New Artistic Voices
The New York Asian Arts Festival is a grassroots Art Festival with a mission to amplify and celebrate AAPI art and creativity in NYC. As the Creative & Design Lead, I developed a comprehensive identity system and exhibition design for the festival, creating a visual system that drew inspiration from the cultural backgrounds of the founders while honoring modern Asian American culture.

Connie’s creative direction gave us an identity that felt vibrant, authentic, and inclusive—helping us build trust and excitement with our community as a debut festival.

THE IDENTITY
Rooted In Tradition But Undeniably Current
The logo blends East Asian name stamps and South Asian block printing into a modern geometric form, paired with typefaces that balance heritage and accessibility, and a festival-inspired color palette that captures the joyful energy of the AAPI community.

"What Will People Think?"
EXHIBITION
New York Asian Arts Festival's debut exhibition showcases four emerging AAPI artists exploring perception, identity, and the weight of expectation through the quiet tensions of diaspora life—the feeling of being seen through multiple lenses at once.

Layers of Identity
Beneath the Surface
EXHIBITION IDENTITY
The exhibition required a distinct visual approach balancing the festival's brand with a thought-provoking aesthetic.
By introducing a bold sans serif display font layered over translations in different Asian languages, I created a visual metaphor for the AAPI experience—where parental & cultural expectations constantly exist beneath and influence lived reality in the diaspora.
