I’m Connie Chen—a brand & visual designer based in LA and NYC. Before design, I spent a decade in advertising, marketing strategy, and program management, which means I speak both business and creative. I studied design at Shillington and developed a particular interest in brand identity work.
Hi there!
Using the skills I learned and my background in advertising and marketing, I recently designed & directed the visual identity for the New York Asian Arts Festival and translated it across the exhibtion design, social campaigns, email marketing, print, onsite signage, & merchandise.
When I’m not designing: I play and watch tennis (currently rooting for Ben Shelton & Naomi Osaka!), love plein air painting and am learning gouache, and going on random strolls with my film camera to collect typography in the wild .
Currently: Open to junior/associate brand or marketing design roles in LA or NYC and select freelance projects.

COVID gave me clarity on what I wanted to do, so I left my job to fully commit to graphic design.
Turning point:
First leap:
Learned design at Shillington, built a portfolio, but let imposter syndrome steer me back to corporate America.
"Practical" beginnings:
Studied Finance while designing flyers and tees for student groups in college.
Corporate chapter:
Worked in advertising, honing skills in storytelling, & client management—while always being the “visuals” person.
Full circle:
My winding path shaped me into a designer who thinks like a strategist and creates with intent!
